Hi! I am Jessamyn of Uptown Photography! I am beyond honored that Heather asked me to be a judge. I know we can give back to those around us that need some in their lives & this is a perfect opportunity to show we care.

Here’s a little about me. I am addicted to Pinterest. I love globes. I know that I belong in Maui, Hawaii. I just know its my true home. {lololol} I absolutely love brand new babies! I do love sewing & crafting...although I am not super amazing at it. Even though I spend my days taking family portraits for my clients I only have a few of my family, this I just realized. So here is my little love!

I am married to a wonderful man I love with my whole heart, whom is currently in school (which isn’t sooo easy but we’re getting though it). We have a baby cakes, well he’s not so much a baby but a very independent three year old with loads of things on his mind. I got my very first camera when I was sixteen, but my passion didn’t really grow until my baby cakes was born & I realized I had to document every single moment of his life because it goes by soo fast. I’ve been doing photography professionally for a little over two years now and its truly a been amazing! I can’t think of anything I would rather do with my life.

I am so excited to be a judge in this giveaway, there are so many families out there who could use a pick me up and it is so gracious of Heather to use her talents to cheer the world up : ) She just took our pictures- and she does amazing job.

A tidbit about me: I have been married for a year and a half now to my best friend! Woot Woot! And I love every second of it! I am a student at BYU-I and I am majoring in Elementary Education- I would love to say I want to have my own classroom one day, but I am hoping that my husband will be the money bags so I can stay home with my babies- which I currently have none; just 2 goldfish- one of which sleeps upside down. I love my family- they are the best! I have the cutest nieces in the world! I also love blogging- It is a great way to express myself, and it is a stress reliever! So feel free to stalk my blog! Hi everyone,

It's a real honor to be on the panel of judges for Heather's essay contest. I'm the owner and creative director of Gambrel Design. We specialize in logo design and branding, but are capable of producing just about anything you can think of...swiftly and with style.

I started designing purely by accident. While working as a cameraman at an Idaho Falls television station, I was asked to fill in for the computer graphics operator, who was out sick. That was the beginning of my career in graphic design. Soon, I was promoted to computer graphics operator and then technical director. Eventually, I left the station to work in graphic design full-time in a real marketing department. It was very exciting! I was able to work on several national and local ad campaigns and provided artwork to hundreds of clients across the country. As the lead designer for that company, I worked on everything from business cards and email campaigns to catalogs and web graphics. Part of my job included writing, editing, and proof reading.

My wife, Janette, has been teaching for 12 years. In July 2011, we celebrated the birth of our son, Brigham. It was at that time that I decided I'd had enough of the corporate life and began to work from home...creating Gambrel Design. Working from home is truly a blessing...and a curse. It's wonderful being home with Brigham, watching him grow each day. That's something I missed with our older son Brennan (12). The hard part is actually making time to work!

We've recently started pushing our way through the social media jungle. Our facebook page and blog have only been up and running a few short months, but we have already realized the benefits of networking with others. Plus, we're newbies on Pinterest and YouTube.

We enjoy our simple life in Ucon, Idaho. Like many of you, we have friends and neighbors that are struggling to make ends meet. This Deserving Families Giveaway is a perfect way to serve others. Thanks again to Heather for hosting this wonderful contest, and allowing me an opportunity serve you. I'm excited to start reading your essays!

I had the wonderful opportunity of taking my sister's grad pictures. She graduates from BYU-I this year. We did a vintage theme and the location was wonderful. My grandma owns an antique shop in Blackfoot and above it there are some old apartments. We had so much fun up there! Pamela loves classic music and records. She loves to read. She loves anything and everything vintage. She loves to wear dresses and skirts and hardly ever wears pants. She is stunning and so has a classy style. I am so thrilled with the outcome of this shoot! I cannot wait for our outdoor shoot next month. It is always fun to work with my best friend and this shoot was no exception. Thank you Pamela for a great shoot! Enjoy :)

First of all, I want to express how excited I am for Heather's giveaway! This will bring such joy and charity. It really makes us focus on others, and some of the greatest blessings and humbling experiences come from showing true compassion and love. Thank you, Heather, for being so kind and thoughtful.

A bit about our blog:

I blog with Risa! We are high school acquaintances that actually didn't become great friends until long after high school. We were re-united through our boyfriends at the time, who are now our husbands. We have held each other up through rough times and laughed through good times. Change often comes as a surprise, and we are sure glad that change made us the best of friends and business partners.

We started this adventure in 2011 when we realized our hearts were in the same place: design. We both have studied interior design, and we love what this blog has done for our creativity. We hope you enjoy it, as well!

I am a California girl, but my Prince Charming moved me to a snowy town in Idaho where he just recently finished his undergraduate program. He now works full-time for the university he graduated from, so we'll be in the cold for a bit longer.

I love photography, crocheting, and scrapbooking (digitally, of course)!

I love puzzles.

My husband says out of all the Friends characters, I am most like Monica.

Cleaning is one of my favorite things to do (hence the Monica comment).

I love to laugh with my family.

When I say I love chocolate, that's an understatement.

My husband rocks.

On our first date, my husband had an afro.

Deserving Families Giveaway

Has you or someone you know been hit hard by this economy? Do you feel like they deserve a portrait session at no cost?

Enter their story in our Deserving Families Giveaway and give them a chance to win a portrait session with Heather Sellers Photography! Submit your stories anytime between today and March 1, 2012. After all the stories have been submitted a guest panel of judges and I will sort through all the stories and choose a winner. Guest judges include Jessamyn Rasmussen of Uptown Photography, Matt Gambrel of Gambrel Designs, Stephanie Lindsey of Paisley Interiors and Shayna Hawker from The Love Shack. I will be introducing the judges throughout the month. The submitter of the winning story will be contacted March 15, 2012, after which we will work out the details of how to contact the winning family. The winning family will be announced March 22, 2012 via this blog. Winner will receive a family photo session (unlimited amount of people of immediate family only), a 11x14 wall portrait, a photo album of their session and a disc of 10 images.

Sugar&Spice

I had the great opportunity to do a newborn shoot yesterday for a boutique shop that sells bows and crocheted items. Rebekka from Sugar&Spice brought me adorable hats and sets for my session. Go check out her work, as well as Amanda's work over at Sugar&Spice and enjoy this preview. Thank you Addi for modeling for me.

Models receive and session with a disk at a discounted price. We are currently looking for boy and girl newborn models (must be between the age of 1 and 14 days, so if you are due soon I want to talk to you). The W. Family was so much fun to work with. All the kids did great in front of the camera! I was so impressed with how well they sat still for me. I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph my neighbors today. They were a dream to photograph. The kids were so good and they are such a beautiful family. I seriously love this family. They have been so kind and thoughtful the whole time we have been neighbors and I am so grateful I have such wonderful neighbors! Here is a quick preview. More to come.
